-" Lord, if it´s you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water."
-"Come, he said.
And Peter walked. For some minutes or seconds, I don´t know, but he did. And because he was afraid of the wind, he sank.
The Bible says that some of the disciples were fisherman, including Peter. So, no need to say he was used to face any type of weather. But why was he afraid of the wind this time ?
Jesus was walking on the water ! Wow ! He argued : "if it´s really you, Jesus..." I don´t think Peter was in doubt about who was walking on the water, but whether Jesus could make him do the same things . He had the desire of doing what his Master did.
Jesus´s answer wasn´t more clear : "Come" . It was as he was saying : do it, Peter. It´s something supernatural, something you´ve never done before, but do it. I keep faith on you. Don´t worry, you will feel like of doing what i do, so come !
And the fear of the wind spoiled everything. Why ? Something that was so natural to him, now was an obstacle to go toward Jesus.
Peter was changing. And sometimes changing causes us to fear, no more about God and things we can´t explain about Him, but things of our old life we need to throw away to meet Jesus without embarrassment.
